Hazy.

This is totally how I've been feeling lately. It's mostly due to seasonal allergies I guess. My eyes are constantly tearing and they feel like they're on fire! I just hate having to take medication for them, but I think I'm just gonna bite the bullet on this one. Oh yeah -- my phone has been giving me grief too. The random reboots on my Motorola Cliq are not so fierce especially the 12th time in 3 days it has happened. Oh, did I mention the 3 forced factory resets on Saturday too?!? The replacement is on it's way. After doing more research on the problems, it's apparently a MAJOR flaw in this model. It was cute while it lasted, but when upgrade time comes in a few months ...

I'm tired.

That is all...

Traffic court.

If its not one thing, its another! Waiting to 'plead' my traffic ticket (from last July).

Root canal(s).

Aside from the (obvious) eyebrow touch-ups and the bags under the eyes ... this is my face in turmoil.  I just had 2 root canals on some front teeth.   So after $550 and 2 hours in that dental office, what was the first thing I did?  Buy a Reese's Peanut Butter bar (they make them in full size candy bars now)!?!?  DON'T JUDGE ME!  Lol.

Outta here!

(I'm pretty sure that was what Becky was thinking as Ieft work today.)

I was never SOOOOO ready to leave work today.  My foot injury / issue / pain-in-my-butt was totally trying my nerves today.  It was my first day back after a day off and 2 sick days thrown in.  I just don't realize how much I was on my feet while working!  I literally only sat down during my 1 hour lunch break.  I was at work 8-1/2 hours today!!!  I see a podiatrist this Wednesday.  I can only imagine what the outcome of this thing will be....

Top down and chin(s) away.

What an unflattering angle, huh?  Anyway -- the sun was out and I was going stir crazy in the house this weekend.  I just had to pop the convertible top down and enjoy the afternoon!

Really?

So, is this what it means when you turn 40, everything just goes downhill???  Yep, the pics above were taking at the emergency room.  Somehow, I couldn't walk this morning.  If felt as if I sprained my ankle or something.  It hurt like hell!  After I hobbled into work this morning looking like Gimpy McGimp-Limp, Katie said I should just  go check it out at the ER.  Luckily it wasn't that busy and after a couple of x-rays and 2 hours later, I've come to learn that I have plantar fasciitis.    Apparently it has to do with me working all day on my feet, (possibly) wearing the wrong shoes, and being overweight.  Ugh, I'm fat.  I KNOW IT ALREADY.  Sigh.  I go see a podiatrist later this week...

The Getty.

I love going to The Getty.  Aside for the $15 parking fee (!), it's one of the few free things you can go here.  We spent most of the day just enjoying the grounds and took a couple of tours outside.  We did, however, catch the Rembrandt drawings exhibit.  It's totally not my thing, but I was just in awe seeing masterful books and prints that were over 350 years old!

Anyway, thank goodness it was a beautiful and clear day in LA.  After all of the rain we had in the past couple of weeks (not that it's a bad thing) and the cooler than normal weather, it was nice to be out and about on my day off!  Sorry I had to resort to using my camera phone, but the pics didn't turn out THAT bad, right?  LOL.

TGI...Tuesday?

I went to T.G.I. Fridays for some after work cocktails today with some coworkers.  I'm all about margaritas for some reason.  Anyway, sorry for the dark pic.  It's hard trying to take a covert picture when the people you are with REALLY REALLY don't want to be photographed!

I am finally getting my car back from the mechanic tomorrow.  We won't mention how I have been without my own wheels for over a month now.  We also won't mention how my back-up wheels (my relatives' late model mini-van) busted a fan belt while I was driving it last week.  Something tells me maybe I shouldn't be driving???  Anyway -- over the past week or so, I've been getting to work through the kindness of the fellow co-workers I had drinks with tonight.  On the days I'm not able to hitch a ride, I've been taking the bus.  Getting up at the butt-crack of dawn to get ready to go to work is NOT cute.  What is normally a 20-25 drive to work has been escalated to about an 1 hour and 15 minutes riding the bus with a transfer of lines in the middle.  'Tis the life of living in the suburbs of Los Angeles.

Tired.

It was a long day at work today.  Can you say, "Inventory?!?"  Ugh.  I"m not sure if the counting (and even more counting) all day is more worse than the 7:00am turnaround to do the reconciliation(s).  Ugh.

1.28.2010

Lunch break.

Just me and Katie from work having lunch at a local Japanese restaurant.  We had a couple of rolls and some tempura.  Mmmm.  I don't know what I would do without rice.  LOL.  Meanwhile, it's totally not helping with the Dr's recommendation of me losing 40 lbs for this anticipated surgery this summer.  Ugh.

1.27.2010

Co-pay time.

I look thrilled, huh?  I was finally able to get that CT scan of my head mentioned a while back.  Everything apparently looks normal, except that the Dr. strongly suggests that I go through those procedures on my tonsils and nasal area(s) to help me get my breathing right.  Oh yeah ... she wants me to lose 40 lbs. before I get it done!  UGH.  In the meantime, I get to take all kind of EXPENSIVE nasal meds.  Yayyy me.  I have to go back for another follow-up in April.

1.24.2010

Grrrr.

(And not in a good way either!) This weekend just did not work out for me at all.  Anyway -- it's my baby brother's 30th birthday.  Happy B-day lil' bro!

On the pier.

From Drop Box

The rains finally stopped and the sun finally came out after more than a week!  So what does one in California decide to do?  Go to the BEACH of course!  (Actually not everyone normally, but that's what I decided to do.  LOL)  Hermosa Beach is a quaint little beach town not too far from where I live.  Of all the ones up and down the LA area coast, this is my favorite.  It's not a big commercial mess and actually quite residential.  Yuppiefied, even.  More pics below (click to embiggen):

Indeed! Cooties are NOT cute.

In the mix.

From Pic a day
I just finished a new music mix compilation / dj set which will be posted soon. I find it kind of funny that I shudder a bit when referring to the term 'dj' and the stuff that I produce. You see, I'm not actually a performing dj in the sense of playing live with 2 turntables and a mixing console. It's totally a computer desktop effort that I started doing last year. I was always a big music fan and have the thousands of records and cd's to prove it. There were instances where I tried to actually learn beatmixing with records back in the day but I simply didn't have the patience, money, or resources to invest in the proper equipment to do so. People used to joke with me as being a total dj whore or booth bitch. I prefer to simply call it "being a fan" but whatevs. LOL. Fast forward to today, technology conveniently puts it all into reach for me. Over the past year, I've made great efforts to really learn how songs are broken down and where transitions should happen. It's definitely more than figuring out how to mix one song to another. The art is really WHAT you play and then HOW you do it. From the recent feedback I've been getting about my little 'productions', I think people liking how I've progressed. One of these days, hopefully I can consider myself a real dj. I may be approaching it in a non-traditional and somewhat backwards way, but I'll get there. :-)
