Only You (THE REMIX).

Okay. Now I'm feeling REALLY OLD. I just witnessed the above JC Penney commercial for Mother's Day. It features an acoustic version of a new wave ballad from 1982 by the band Yazoo. The song is called "Only You" and the group was originally made up of Alison Moyet and Vince Clarke. This was probably one of the songs from my youth that seriously changed my life. It's funny how this past week was full of reminiscing of days gone by. Be it from seeing demolition pictures of my favorite nightclub back in DC to music from the 80's and a blog I found by a guy who totally has the same outlook on music that I do. I think I get too sentimental at times.

Here's an updated video of the original version of the song that I love so much. The mannequins are a direct reference to the cover art of the album UPSTAIRS AT ERIC'S.

Does anyone know who that JC Penney cover is by? I love the original too, but this version is great.

I just wrote them a note on their website inquiring about it. I love this version as well.

Wow. I actually got a reply from the folks at JC Penney! The song is a live acoustic version from an artist named Josh Radin. It was taken from a special concert done through Apple and is available on iTunes. There you have it. :-)
