Roadster to Loungemaster upgrade.

From Drop Box

The pictures don't do them justice, but I just got me a new wallet in the mail! J. Fold, in my opinion, makes some of the coolest accessories at decent prices ($67 for their basic top grain leather billfold). What I like about them most is their cool and unique design aesthetic. My best bud Jay from NYC gave me the 2-stripe Roadster model over 4 years ago and is showing some wear but thankfully NOT falling apart. I bought my new green trimmed Loungemaster last week because I found an online coupon that just made it such a sweet deal to not pass up. Until someone feels compelled to buy me a new LV monogrammed anything, I'm going to rave about these guys for a long while! ;-)

I <3 Target.

From Pic a day
I trolled Target today looking for some new socks. There's like at least a dozen of these stores in my immediate (10 mile radius) area and I've been to all of them. Ahh, to be living in suburbia. I have such an exciting life, eh?

Shopping.

I was at the mall this past Saturday. Just like everyone else, I was just hanging around trying to look for some good deals. I didn't find any doorbusters or anything except for a little sale on some Levi's at Sears of all places. I actually still had a lot of money left over from the gift card, etc. I got from the Ellen Show last month. Since it's not a place that I normally go to, I kind of forced myself to use it. Poor me. LOL.

As I walked through the mall, I just realized that this was actually the first time I had to myself to do any kind of recreational shopping post-holiday. Is it me or are things just a lot more expensive now??? Abercrombie and Fitch had quite a few sale items, but $49 for beat up and holey sweatshirts?!? No thanks. Being the brand name label snob that I am, I only really buy clothing from The Gap family of stores (Gap, Banana Republic, and Old Navy). I've been shopping a lot more at the latter of the three because I'm poor and cheap. Thank goodness I don't have to REALLY dress nice at work. LOL. The blaring thing that I noticed on this particular day was the LACK of new product put out. The back of The Gap store was basically empty except for EMPTY fixtures and a smattering of some clearance items. I'm guessing they were going to do one big rollout of merchandise for the spring soon. I dunno -- it just looked ugly. Banana had some stuff I could have used, but as a former employee, I know how much that stuff really goes down in price if you're lucky. Since I'm not privy to those extra discounted opportunities anymore I decided to wait for the next mid-season clearance for better stuff. Yes, I'm a whiney brat. Thank you.

Anyway, business as a whole where I work was decent. They haven't shared any numbers with us officially, but I know we definitely didn't do as bad as other retailers out there. The 2nd pic above is of a Mervyn's department store. As you can see, it was totally empty except for some of the fixtures. I think they actually started clearing out right after Christmas. Kind of daunting, huh?

Bright light.

I just got a coupon in the mail for $20 off a new pair of sunglasses at Sunglass Hut today. Their prices aren't necessarily the best but they offer a great damage/loss guarantee and they custom fit their product. The latter is important because I have such a HOOJ coconut on my shoulders! Things need to be stretched, pulled, and bent in all matter of ways to make them fit correctly. LOL. Anyway, I must be on their mailing list from my last purchase. As a result, they sent the coupon for my birthday (which is later this month). What a better way to drop over $200.00, right? I've narrowed down the choices to the ones below. Hmmmm.

Spice sighting.

I picked up my friend Curtis today at the Long Beach Airport and we hung out in the Hollywood / West Hollywood area for most of the afternoon. We ended up at The Grove and strolled around. Lo and behold I saw Victora Beckham (entourage and all) shopping at the Nordstrom shoe department. Now, I'm soooo not the start struck type, but I did get a kick out of it. Just because I live in the LA area, it doesn't mean that it's always the big celeb sighting mecca. I definitely don't hang out in places where they do, but I'm just a little excited about seeing the Spice Girls show in December. My other friend Mike said that the tickets already arrived last week! Yayy.
