Paper thin.

I'm not really sure what the big fuss is about with SEX AND THE CITY 2 .  All the critics who are panning it for being so blatantly vapid and materialistic and incredibly unrealistic are basically stupid straight men.  LOL.  I feel really sorry for those who actually take it 'seriously.'  In any case, I ended up watching it while on vacation back in DC a few weeks ago.  I totally loved it and was happy to see another episode in the series.  The infamous John Galliano for Christan Dior dress makes a reappearance.  I was actually living in New York City when the original episode aired and SJP wore it in 2000.  I even distinctly remember walking past the Dior boutique on 57th Street every day after work and simply staring at the window for a few moments.    (Wow -- did I just blog about 'vintage' couture???  If you didn't know by know that I'm a big ol' gay, well.....)

Robbie.

(from So Hip It Hurts)

Vinny Vero does a nice little writeup of a new Robbie Williams retrospective due to be released this fall '10.  I totally didn't know that he covered George Michael's 'Freedom' as one of his first solo hits!  I kind of fell late on the whole Take That bandwagon  in the 90's.  I think it was the single 'Back for Good' that peaked my interest.  Of course by then, Robbie was well on his way OUT of that whole boy band business.  I distinctly remember blasting this track quite often in the boardroom at Sony Music Distribution (my old job back in the day) in Beltsville, MD.  Mind you -- Take That were NOT a Sony act.  lolol.  Anyway -- Robbie was total hotness back then.  (He still is IMHO.  Also, after watching 'Back for Good' again ... Gary Barlow is a whole bunch of yummy too!)  It's quite unfortunate that Robbie never really REALLY hit it big in the US.

Bingo Players - Devotion.

(Bingo Players - Devotion)

Since I got a little carried away with my FFC (Fun Friday Choon) selection earlier this week with Gabriella Cilmi, I thought I'd make a mention of this particular track from late last year. The guys behind the Bingo Players can do no wrong in my book. It's interesting, however, how dj's and producers basically remix old songs (in this case a track by Nomad from 1991) and re-release it as their own. I don't know -- by all accounts the vocal track/sample sounds the same. Aside from all of the new production elements and minus the rap part, it's a "remix", right? Either way -- it reminds me of my early club kid days back in Washington, DC when I first started going out. Sigh.....

10 house tracks.

For all of you HOUSE-HEADS out there ... what would you consider your FAVORITE house music tracks of all time??? There is really no way I can narrow down a list of my own personal faves, but below are just 10 that I can name off the top of my head. I'm old so I'm digging back as far as the early-mid 90's in my list. For some reason they all kind of make you want to take drugs or go to church. Go figure! The only stipulation is the song has to be an ORIGINAL house song and NOT necessarily a house remix of a pop / rock / r&b song. It's up to you to define what HOUSE means to you. :-)
