I'm a South Bay LA 'FLIP' by way of Washington, DC and then some. A retired club kid of sorts but still a house-head to the core! This blog has been active in one way or another since 2002. I seem to have a whole lot to say about nothing, huh? This is just a placeholder for now, I post mostly to flip4bearz.tumblr.com

Paper thin.

I'm not really sure what the big fuss is about with SEX AND THE CITY 2 . All the critics who are panning it for being so blatantly vapid and materialistic and incredibly unrealistic are basically stupid straight men. LOL. I feel really sorry for those who actually take it 'seriously.' In any case, I ended up watching it while on vacation back in DC a few weeks ago. I totally loved it and was happy to see another episode in the series. The infamous John Galliano for Christan Dior dress makes a reappearance. I was actually living in New York City when the original episode aired and SJP wore it in 2000. I even distinctly remember walking past the Dior boutique on 57th Street every day after work and simply staring at the window for a few moments. (Wow -- did I just blog about 'vintage' couture??? If you didn't know by know that I'm a big ol' gay, well.....)

Robbie.
(from So Hip It Hurts)
Vinny Vero does a nice little writeup of a new Robbie Williams retrospective due to be released this fall '10. I totally didn't know that he covered George Michael's 'Freedom' as one of his first solo hits! I kind of fell late on the whole Take That bandwagon in the 90's. I think it was the single 'Back for Good' that peaked my interest. Of course by then, Robbie was well on his way OUT of that whole boy band business. I distinctly remember blasting this track quite often in the boardroom at Sony Music Distribution (my old job back in the day) in Beltsville, MD. Mind you -- Take That were NOT a Sony act. lolol. Anyway -- Robbie was total hotness back then. (He still is IMHO. Also, after watching 'Back for Good' again ... Gary Barlow is a whole bunch of yummy too!) It's quite unfortunate that Robbie never really REALLY hit it big in the US.

Kylie Made a Splash! New Album Preview.
I'm not sure how planned or announced this little peformance was, but how fun would THIS have been to just stumble upon while going out, huh???? SPLASH is definitely NOT a big bar either!

Superhero.
(from Popsucker)
Okay, this is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo not something that I would actually listen to on purpose. I just came across it and was just mesmerized by his James Franco-ness and those killer eyes! LOL.

Uncle Sam.
Ummmm, did anyone catch the latest epsiode of CAPRICA??? Sam Adama played by actor Sasha Roiz is some tough mafia-type hitman in the prequel series to BATTLESTAR GALACTICA. The character unfolds as the uncle to BSG's Admiral William Adama who sort of takes him under his wing as his dad (played by Esai Morales) goes out of control trying to chase the 'ghost' of his deceased daughter. In this episode, we find out that he's also gay and married to another man! WOW!

Enterprise.
I think I've made mention last week how I'm all about ENTERPRISE, one of the Star Trek series that aired 2001-2005. I'm actually kind of PRESSED about it ... to the point that I've filled up my Netflix queue with the the entire series on DVD. I think I'm up to disc 5 of season 1 in just the span of a week and a half. Anyway, the timeline of this takes place in the absolute beginning of the Star Trek saga (before the original TV series in the 70's and even the current movie from 2009). I like it because the point of view is different and makes you feel like you're watching a TV show with a contemporary storyline. Even the show's power ballad theme song (written by Diane Warren) kind of throws you off making you think, "Am I watching a sci-fi show or what?" Oh yeah -- there seems to be a whole lot of "undress" in it too. Hmmmm.
The bunch of yummy-ness up above is Commander Charles "Trip" Tucker, III played by Connor Trineer. Apparently, square cut boxer briefs are still in fashion in the near future. Me likey!
There's more sexiness from another episode in a "decontamination chamber" below:

Do I really want one of these?
(click to embiggen)
I was just watching some of the video on the iPad from the Apple website. The tech geek in me really wants one. The poor retail employee that I am is severely limiting my chances of getting one soon. Meanwhile, is it me or is this guy kinda hot? He's got one of those cool non-American accents too. ;-)

Grrrr.

High fashion for bears! (I know, right?!? LOL.) I found this on Jimbo.info. The designer's name is Walter Van Beirendonck and he's from Belgium. If you look deeper into his sight, I think the last pic of the runway spread is him. Hmmm. Meanwhile, some of the ready-to-wear on his sight is kinda cute. 65-150 euros for t-shirts and 200+ euros for zip-up hoodies. *cough*.

Nothing to hide.
I'm getting such a kick out of these clips from Air New Zealand. If only my airline days looked like that. Erm, after 2nd thought, there's a lot that I probably DID NOT want to see back then. LOL.

Virtuality.

Shared via AddThis
Did anyone catch the 2-hour pilot for Virtuality last week??? The link for the full episode is above. It's a new sci-fi pilot from the same guy that brought Battlestar Galactica back. Think 2001: A Space Odyssey vs The Real World vs Melrose Place on ecstacy. Not that I know how that feels. Ahem. Sci-fi + drama + intrigue = EYELUVIT! LOL.
Anyway -- it tells the story of a starship crew who are on a long range mission. The crew use virtual reality devices to 'pass the time' and of course something goes horribly wrong. According to this article, a full fledge series may not come into fruition because Fox doesn't think audiences can handle the complexity of the storyline. That simply means, it needs to be dumbed down ... a lot. Also, since this coming from Fox, they may have to delete the gay couple too [watch 'em ... they're HOT]! Which leads me to believe why/how this part of the storyline actually made it to the air. Oh well, I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Friend.
Friend (Sandy Rivera Remix) - Silky Sunday
I'm really REALLY digging this song right now. I heard it on the Star69 Records podcast (mixed by progressive house dj's r.o.r.) over the weekend. The sad and haunting vocals on it are just mesmerizing. Yes, the boy who's all about the klink-klank bonk-bonk beats is completely enamored by this .... minimal electronica/house ballad?!?!? So much so, that I even BOUGHT it! Wow. Can you believe it? LOL.
(There isn't much information on this group, but after a little investigation, this track was originally released LAST SUMMER on Rebirth Records from Italy! I'm late again. Anyways, great review of it here. Also look out for another amazing remix by Jerome Isma-Ae from Germany.)
Harder, faster ... one more time.
I posted this back in June, but I'm putting it up again for my friend Alixe from work. She thought the Disney version I put up the other day was cute. This one 'might' be a little cuter for some people...

Fierce.
Okay, I'm in geek mode right now. It's no secret that I am a big sci-fi nut. As a result, I'm glued to the TV on a Friday night! I just got done with Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and absolutely loving the character Shirley Manson (from the band Garbage) plays on the series. She definitely plays the 'bad guy' with fabulous intensity!
